Love the story of how the trainer was so scrawny he had to leave football, and gratifying it is to see how his 70 yr old parents are now in the BEST shape of their lives.

Hubby is 62 and used to be a BB guy. He was enormous when I first met him over 30 yrs ago. He still works out 6 days a week and has bounced back from his cancer surgery and radiation like it was nothin'.

He even did a light workout every day when his stitches came out and then all during rad treatments.

Move it or lose it is right, as the other commenter said!🙂

Lots of folks over 40 give lip service to excercise but you'll find they do something "active" only a few times per month. I like Drew/Vince's concept of working out daily (rotating) and considering a REST day not an off day but an essential part of your fitness plan.

My Dad is in his 80s and is manually clearing his pond of literally tonnes of earth. He works at it all day, every day. I doubt most people over 50 could keep up with him. He has a very slight build which makes it all the more impressive. I’m fairly convinced that his life long dedication to staying active on pretty much a daily basis has made this possible. Move it or lose it. Fundamentally I think it’s that simple.

Amazing. Move it or lose it is right, especially once you hit 40+ IMHO

Hitting 40 was like going over a cliff for me. I attribute strength training to pulling me out of the nose dive. Strength training is the true miracle drug imho.

Same. It took me a year or two to really accept that I was going to have to work for it going forwards. The free ride was up!

I agree, I’ve been lifting seriously since 22 and I’m 69...still can run after the grandkids.

My husband did weight lifting for years he’s almost 60 and still working out 🏋️‍♀️. He had a neighbor I think he was over 90 when he passed away but he was still working on the yard and garden ❤️ our neighbor next door he’s over 80 and still working hard 💪.

Thanks for sharing the video I watched some earlier while doing dishes but I didn’t finish it. (Something that you might find interesting) https://youtu.be/K7U0BVnYS0U?si=Rn07cJxtNFvaJRQ_

Keep exercising no matter what. If you are someone with health issues start with range of motion exercises increase those gradually as tolerated then chair exercises. Increase your walking distance gradually. If you have surgery, get up & walk asap, do your deep breathing exercises, what ever you do don’t lay in bed because it’s painful. If nothing else walk daily for 30 minutes. I work out with free weights + ride exercise bike and elliptical 3-4 x per week for an hour. My husband runs 3 miles /day 5 x per week and works out. We are “middle aged” no health issues and don’t take any prescription medications.

Exercise also supports immune function. ❤️
