Amongst all the LED lanterns and even a few fluorescents from AC power, one troop from Delaware had an old Coleman dual mantle going.

Reminded me of the 80s and I was glad I dropped in on them one evening a couple weeks ago.

Love it! They put out way more light than most LEDs and it's a beautiful soft light by comparison.

The smell and the hiss! Ahhh such great memories, thank you!

(And the torture of changing the mantle!)

I also enjoy washing dishes the "good enough for camping" way which often means just a swirl of water or wiping it down lol

I use to play UNO with my family while camping under the gas light in the 80's and 90's.

I love camping. But I’m also finding glamping a lot more fun these days. Lots of different yurts to rent depending on location and your preferences. & grab the propane lanterns before they are banned along with all other the other stuff the climate change nuts are taking out of circulation.

I can recall filling the stoves and lanterns with liquids. Not sure what they were exactly. I can recall a few of us neighbor kids chipping in about $30 to buy a 9' X 9' umbrella tent from Epps, I think it was. That was fun for a few years camping out in the back 40. Or, we would get all manner of items to make our own tents to sleep overnight in. Today's kids should be so lucky.
