Michigan Nuclear Plant and 3 Mile Island out of mothballs, about to fire up again:

Big Tech is saying, ‘We need reliable 24 hour electricity. We can’t get it just from wind and solar’,”

U.S. Department of Energy announced it had closed a $1.5 billion loan for the revival of the Holtec Palisades nuclear plant in Michigan in late 2025, which would make it the first American nuclear plant to be restarted.

Why would you want to feed the beast and help build your own panopticon?

I get it, but ...

why would you let forces beyond your control (including bitcoin mining electricity demand) jack up electricity prices without doing everything you could to benefit your family and grow your finances to keep up?

Besides, any old school environmentalist (who cares about "nature" without all the additional overwoke baggage added to the narrative) who studies the issue will realize that new nuclear will clean up the environment, air, water etc.

Mate, I live in SW France where 70% of electricity is nuclear generated... I can assure you that type of generation and demand currently has nothing to do with billing... Refusing the SMART meter in my property and the games I now play with EDF as a result would make a docu-drama mini-series. "Fictional bills"... I think I would call it. Price rises under the current regime have been arbitrary (all across the G7) and all part of the squeeze directed at the little people if non-compliant, though geo-politically getting booted out of Niger hasn't helped the 'ancien regime' of France nor the proxy war... yellow cake in the Donbass too... I take your point as to growing finances, however FIAT and the massively overpriced stock markets of the West (by way of debt at national level) would not be my choice... Rgds.

Good insights. No smart meter for me either, though it costs me $20 for "non-service". Not a bad business model, lol.

As for western markets, when you double the money supply as they are on track to do in the next 18 mos, you essentially can have stocks double just to tread water. Relative values always exist ( I think nuclear and related utility stocks are undervalued right now) but I trade cycles and profits go to gold, treasuries, bitcoin, along the way.

Just trying to surf a wave that's coming whether I like it or not. :)

"when you double the money supply as they are on track to do in the next 18 mos, you essentially can have stocks double just to tread water. "

The whole house of cards currently depends on that..,. or "MMT to the Moon" - another mini-series (with space aliens), if you prefer. "AVOID" would be my recommendation. That can is getting hard to kick... It's starting to break toes...

I and my associates are trying to drop a whistleblower expose on the corruption surrounding remdesivir. Would you consider featuring it on your stack?

Back about 15 years ago or so, I made a delivery or two to this place. I wonder what took it so long to reopen? In any event, nuclear makes much more sense than solar and wind ever will. But the entire energy industry has been hijacked by imbeciles and fools and the consumer gets the bill for increasing inefficiency. That we have to chase inflation is the result of more foolish spending and monetary policies. If I had a longer term horizon, betting on the "new" nuclear makes sense.
