My 2 oldest in their 20’s love Gordon light foot. Their favorite was the Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald. My 2 youngest (adopted) teens, big nope! But I’ve caught my daughter singing along😆
I was saddened to hear of his passing and had a feeling that he had succumbed to taking the shots...
I grew up listening to him, and the first album or two I bought were his... I loved singing along with his music.. still do. Two of my favorites are Beautiful, and Pussy Willows Cat-Tails. When working concert and theater support, one of the last shows I was blessed to work was Gordon Lightfoot, and he sang both those songs during the performance. Made my heart sing. Good memory to hang onto.
I'm a Yacht Rock kind of guy. I've never been sailing before, but this song makes it sound pretty cool. One of my favorites from Christopher Cross. https://youtu.be/MEO6gYCFbr0
Sticking with Dire Straits, "Brothers In Arms" joins Creedence's "Run Through The Jungle" as a coming-of-age anthem, albeit more reflective than adrenaline-fueled.
Speaking of sailing songs, GHOSTS OF CAPEHORN is one of Gordon Lightfoot's lesser known and best, IMHO. (Still pissed he took the damn clot shots X3)
Rip Gordon. Calm Seas and Fair winds!

Summer Time Dream is another Lightfoot gem my kids still love :)

Both are favorites of mine. Agree, both songs. reflective of where we are today.
Dire Straits...where the elite scumbags of the world are taking us. Many good songs from this group. Knopfler is a musical genius.
The inimitable Mark Knopfler!
One more question Jimy, did you get to go for a ride in the Chinook?
