Clearly, there is a market/use for such a coin but it is one step above fiat currency...which has its base within investor confidence. There is no backstop or real assets behind these coins...they are secured mostly by fiat currency...can you say Ponzi Scheme? Layer on top of this we do not know who is the creator nor his/her background. It could be communist China for all we know (though not likely). What is to stop someone or something "pulling the plug" on this coin? What recourse will people have? In a word...none. Seems to me the latest rollout of Cryptos 2.0 and 3.0 is where the value resides. Look at XRP or XLM ...these tokens have a legit use, have a pathway to making a revenue stream and can be tracked with accuracy. BTC will have its place but its role as the 800 pound gorilla is waning....invest accordingly.
PS. As an aside, think of what happens to BTC should the dollar return to being backed by gold. Kindof negates the need for a high priced BTC.
