"Nuclear" will soon be Everyone's Favorite Word. (AI and Data Center Demand is Voracious)
3 Mile Island is Reopening, and That's just While we wait for "Small Footprint" Nuclear
Germany just finished permanently shutting down every single one of its Nuclear Plants. They are already regretting it.
Nuclear Power is about to become the darling of tree huggers worldwide. It may well be the first issue left and right come together on (endless war mongering excluded) this decade.
Here’s why:
Goldman Sachs estimates that total global power demand from data centers could rise from 200 TWh before the pandemic to more than 1,000 TWh in 2030, a potential surge of more than 5x, mainly fueled by AI.These are mindblowing numbers, as they require a lot of resources to generate power. In most emerging markets, the main source is "dirty" coal. In Western nations, I expect a lot of future demand to be served by natural gas, which is very abundant in nations like the United States and Canada.
However, to avoid uncontrolled surges in commodity prices, we need a lot more supply. That's where nuclear energy comes in.
A single pellet of uranium contains as much energy as 17 thousand cubic feet of natural gas, 120 gallons of oil, and one ton of coal.
So how do you invest in this trend, Changa?
Here are some of my fav stocks to follow (*NOTHING HERE IS FINANCIAL ADVICE)
As of tonight, Vistra Energy is now the top performing stock in S&P, overtaking even NVDA!
Nuclear energy is resurging as a dense, reliable power source, crucial for meeting AI-driven energy demands that renewables and coal can't match.
Vistra is strategically expanding its nuclear portfolio, securing long-term contracts, and benefiting from coal plant retirements, positioning it for sustained growth.
Strong financials, impressive EBITDA growth, aggressive share buybacks, and future-proof growth make Vistra a standout in the utility sector.
Small footprint nuclear:
The surge in AI-related power demand will likely trigger a new wave of permits, small modular reactor projects, and long-term deals between utilities and data centers.
Some of the “next gen nuclear” stocks I’m watching or accumulating that are exploring and developing these technologies include:
Bonus:
By the way, BWXT is the stock Stansberry Research recommends for micro reactors that will "make AI energy demands possible" (that teaser you see pop up in your browser all the time).
(full disclosure: Changa owns it. Not advice*)
Do yourself a favor and start getting up to speed on “new nuclear”. It’s the solution that’s always been hidden in plain sight, and new developments have made it clean, safe, invisible (small buildings/footprint/no cooling tower needed) and increasingly politically viable.
You can thank me in 5 years.
Enjoy!
