I would highly recommend having a look at WHO you are also supporting further the chain with Kiva.🤔🤐 I have supported Kiva micro loan investments in community's since 2011 when I worked in web, as I thought it was the best way to actually lift economies and create equality globally.
I still do think that it was a good idea....and so do certain other investors up the financial food chain, although I don't think their investment reasoning is quite as altruistic.😉☹
Is the answer to stop supporting Kiva, and by extension the recipients? Not morally, no. But we do need to stop investors profiteering from the very people that suffer the most from the investors other business practices.
In the meantime, I support local businesses, families and my community directly. I bring food directly to those that I know need it. I spend my money directly with those that I know could use the support. I give my energy to those actually making our community a nicer place and I show those who arnt, ways they can do better, by doing better myself.
