39th Anniversary of Bob Moriarty's flight under the Eiffel Tower
ENJOY!
We need to honor our “Bobs”.
They Don't Make ‘em Like This Anymore.
“Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times.”
This quote, from a postapocalyptic novel by the author G. Michael Hopf, sums up a stunningly pervasive cyclical vision of history, and the conditions that gave rise to adventurous, fearless, and skilled human beings like Bob.
After countless tours in Nam, Bob spent 20 years delivering airplanes all over the world in conditions most pilots didn't dare to fly, and often using dead-reckoning for navigation.
He now runs the popular website 321gold.com, and hates the smell of napalm in the morning.
But don't tell him I told you his story!
He's never been apprehended by the French gendarmes who are reportedly still seeking him for “a friendly chat”.

'Yeah, Bob and I worked together and he told me about this one night. It was goofy but it was just one of those things where guys get talked into trying something crazy. After Vietnam he was a ferry pilot for a long time, flying from Europe to the US with customer's planes, and had a ton of hours in all kinds of aircraft. A friend put him up to it and they used the friend's plane. He was NOT caught, escaped by having another plane nearby and flew out of the country before they figured it out. He is an extremely experienced pilot and this was 30+ years ago, a different time. He is an incredible guy and can tell you stories for hours, great stories.'
