How to Cool the Hottest Town

Freiburg is the hottest town in Germany. Of all the amazing things to see there, my kids ranked the Bachle top of the list.

At first glance these water channels running all over town reminded me of medieval sewers, but I was soon schooled.

These crystal clear cooling systems of running water date back hundreds of years, and actually modify the climate at street level.

This is a delightful example of old world tech.
