Many of the microbusinesses our substack helps bootstrap are not only innovative ideas from everyday Americans the banks won't fund, but they are also trying to improve and rebuild some of the most ravaged places on the map.
Remember Kenosha, Wisconsin?
Enough said.
This was one of our first zero interest micro-loans that has become a huge success, thanks to our paid subs who collectively helped fund it!
Your $5/ mo sub has helped empower a bright idea transforming it into a job creating success machine that is changing lives and providing jobs in a local economy desperately in need of leadership and inspiring role models like this couple.
Here's part of their recent update:
“We are a Neapolitan-inspired pizzeria in the heart of Downtown Kenosha, WI focused on a blend of traditional, high quality pizzas and super fun, wild pizzas and calzones that ensure pizza is what it should be, fun!
We started this business during 2020. The challenges of the pandemic as well as local civil unrest displaced us as well as many others and while we tried office jobs... we simply love hospitality too much. We started making food for friends and neighbors and things just never stopped growing.
We started as a food truck built out of a 1993 fire engine and have now added a brick-and-mortar location to better serve our community. We still have our awesome fire truck food truck at all the city's best events as our restaurant location focuses on a broader, more comprehensive pizzeria menu.
In four years, we've gone from a literal mom & pop micro business to a fully staffed pizzeria and food truck and, last year, were nationally recognized as Mobile Pizza Business of the Year by Pizza Today Magazine.
